If you plan to use the glacier as a base for climbing Miar Peak, a formal mountaineering permit from the Gilgit-Baltistan Council is mandatory.
The base camp area is remote and does not have permanent structures; visitors must bring their own camping gear, including high-quality tents and sleeping pads. Organized expeditions usually set up a mobile mess tent and kitchen to provide meals for the duration of the stay.
There is no dedicated on-site rescue team at Miar Glacier, and emergency evacuations are generally coordinated via satellite phone through private helicopter services. Trekkers are strongly advised to have comprehensive high-altitude insurance that covers helicopter search and rescue.
The most stable weather window occurs from late June to early September when the monsoon influence is minimal and the glacier surface is more predictable. During this period, daytime temperatures are manageable, though nighttime temperatures on the ice can still drop well below freezing.
