The river flow is extremely fast and powerful, especially during the peak summer melting season, so keep a safe distance from the edge. Banks can be undercut by the current, making them prone to sudden collapse.
Basic food supplies and local meals can be found in the villages of Nagar Khas and Hoper before you head deeper toward the Hispar River. Once you leave the main villages, there are no commercial shops, so carry your own food and water.
The confluence of the Hispar and Hunza Rivers offers a dramatic scene where the two different water colors merge. The wooden bridges spanning the river also provide excellent vantage points for capturing the scale of the valley and the rushing glacial meltwater.
There are no formal parking areas along the rough jeep track following the river. If you need to stop, your driver will find a wider section of the road to pull over safely without blocking other 4x4 vehicles.
