Small seasonal streams
In Balochistan's expansive desertscape lies a transient spectacle – seasonal hilltorrents that punctuate the arid landscape primarily during July, August, and September monsoons. These ephemerally flowing streams are best explored with 4x4 vehicles due to their remote locations within Barkhan District. These waterways carve rugged pathways through rocky terrain before subsiding as dry riverbeds when the rains cease in October.
Barkhan becomes remarkably green during the monsoon; however, always check local weather as these small streams can turn into torrents very quickly.
The best time to visit is during July, August and September. These months offer the most favorable conditions for visitors.

It is safe during the dry season, but you should avoid the stream beds entirely during the monsoon as flash floods can occur rapidly and without warning.
The areas where the streams cut through the rugged hills of the Barkhan valley provide the most dramatic backdrops, especially just after a rainfall when the water is flowing.
There are very few facilities directly by the streams, so it is recommended to carry your own snacks and water from the main Barkhan bazaar.
There are no designated parking areas, but you can typically find space to pull over on the side of the nearby unpaved roads.
