Harcho Glacier is located in an open zone for Pakistani nationals, but foreign tourists must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and travel with a licensed tour operator. If you plan to extend your trek toward restricted border areas in Astore, additional military clearance is mandatory.

There are no dedicated civilian rescue teams stationed at the glacier; all emergency evacuations are facilitated by the Pakistan Army Aviation via helicopter. There are no permanent structures or facilities at the Harcho Glacier base camp, so expeditions must be entirely self-sufficient. Porters and guides from the nearby Harcho village are essential for transporting tents, kitchen equipment, and food supplies.
