The water here is relatively shallow and clear, making it a popular spot for wading and swimming. However, keep an eye on the tide, as the shoreline can shift significantly when the water rises against the sand dunes.
Tides follow the general Arabian Sea cycle, with two high and two low tides every 24 hours. It is best to visit during low tide to enjoy the widest stretch of sand and to see the unique patterns formed where the desert meets the water.
The beach is mostly soft sand, but there are occasional rocky patches and submerged debris near the fishing areas. Wearing water shoes is recommended to protect your feet from sharp shells or the rare sea urchin.
There are no permanent rental shops on the dunes, so you must arrange boat trips at the nearby Damb village jetty. Most tours will drop you off at the Desert Beach as part of a larger excursion through the bay.
