Ras Koh Hills
Located within Balochistan, in both Chagai and Kharan districts, lies Ras Koh Hills - an expansive granite mountain range that offers unique landscapes to explore with its rugged terrain. Accessible primarily by 4x4 vehicles due to the rough roads leading up to it, this remote area is best visited during November through February when temperatures are more manageable for travelers and sightseeing activities. The terrain is exceptionally rocky and steep, demanding a powerful 4x4 vehicle with high ground clearance. Ensure your spare tire is in good condition, as the sharp granite rocks can easily puncture standard tires.
Because of the elevation, nights in the Ras Koh Hills are much colder than the surrounding desert floor. Heavy winter gear and insulated sleeping mats are necessary if you are camping at higher altitudes.
Natural water sources are extremely rare and often dry in this granite range. You must carry a full supply of water for the duration of your visit, including extra for your vehicle's radiator.
Camping is allowed, but the ground is very hard and rocky, making it difficult to pitch traditional tents. Look for flat areas in the valleys and ensure you have a self-standing tent or a thick sleeping pad.
