Shounter Lake
Located within the scenic Neelum District of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Shounter Lake resides in the heart of the scenic and ruggedly beautiful Shouter Valley - a sub-valley located in Neelam Valley's verdant expanse at an elevation of 3100 meters (approximately 10259 feet). Accessible only via sturdy four-wheel drive vehicles, this alpine lake is best visited during the summer months from June to September.
A spoon-shaped alpine lake. The jeep track from Sharda is rugged and usually only opens in June. It is a popular camping site for trekkers heading toward Chitta Katha Lake.
The best time to visit is during June, July, August and September. These months offer the most favorable conditions for visitors.
A 4x4 vehicle is required to reach Shounter Lake. Make sure your vehicle is in good condition for the terrain.

There are no permanent public facilities at the lake; however, basic camping sites at nearby Upper Domel may offer shared restrooms for a small fee.
